Good things happen here

Support Groups

Our groups are open to all ages, cultures, nationalities and religions.

It all started with the search for a support group for women in East London in 2021. There was nothing available in our area. A seed was planted and then actioned into reality.

The Sista Support Team

was born from a desire to be amongst ladies going through similar experiences who could relate to the highs & lows of a cancer journey.

From the shared stories on this group a much greater plan started to form, and so The Cancer Connection grew organically into the charity that it is today.

This is your experience. Our groups honour and respect each individual’s choices and their approach to their own journey. While each one is unique, we find by sharing our stories we connect to each other. No-one is left alone to battle on unseen and our support space offers a safe place to feel understood.

A person’s family & friends may not be able to relate to the impact of this disease or its treatment. This is where a support group really shines – by functioning as a bridge between medical and emotional needs.

‘You are not a victim for sharing your story. You are a survivor setting the world on fire with your truth. You never know who needs your light, your warmth and raging courage.’

We operate via Whatsapp groups, and meet up in person once a month for an informal tea & chat. Each of these get-togethers include a guest speaker – either a specialist in their field of health or an inspiring survivor.

The members of our Support Teams play a large part in our various cancer-related community projects and fundraising efforts.

We believe WE RISE UP BY LIFTING OTHERS

The Cancer Connection speaks the language of hope. Not a wispy, airy-fairy type of hope, and not the hope that is more like denial, but rather the type that encourages an inner strength to never give up. To make plans and goals. To find courage in the face of difficult situations. We believe that by accepting total responsibility for our health we become the driving force in our healing journey. This is the hope with grit and determination.

Messages of support

It is hard to fully express how magical it is to experience cheerleading from complete strangers who are rooting for you. We have gathered words of encouragement from other warriors who have gained their own personal wisdom through their journeys and hope to inspire you by sharing their wishes. This is what kindness looks like.
